NBA shuts down games due to coronavirus

The NBA has suspended all games after a Utah Jazz player tested positive for coronavirus.

The NBA said the result came in just before the game between the Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder although the infected player was not at the venue.

The Utah Jazz player, Rudy Gobert, tested negative for flu and respiratory infection but when his condition worsened that day he was tested for Covid-19.

The NBA suspended play after the game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets.

Mark Cuban, the owner of the Mavericks, was visibly shocked when he heard the news. He said,"This is crazy. This can't be true.", speaking to ESPN.

Basketball is one of the most watched sports in the world and for an entire season to be called of is a big blow to the industry.

Will other sporting events and tournaments be affected by the coronavirus? Are we going to have to wait a long time before we see our favorite sports and heroes again?
